Binance Futures Fee Overview

Binance Futures uses a maker-taker fee model where fees depend on whether your order adds or removes liquidity from the order book. Fees also vary by contract type (USDⓈ-M vs COIN-M) and your VIP level.

📊

Trading Fees

Charged on every trade (open/close). Based on position notional value × fee rate.

Funding Fees

Exchanged every 8h on perpetual contracts. Peer-to-peer (Binance doesn’t profit).

📅

Settlement Fees

For quarterly futures at expiry. Charged as taker fee rate.

Maker vs Taker Fees Explained

The maker-taker model rewards traders who add liquidity to the order book (makers) with lower fees than those who take liquidity away (takers).

📥

Maker (0.02%)

Adds liquidity to order book

You’re a maker when your order doesn’t execute immediately:

  • Limit orders below market (buy) or above market (sell)
  • Post-Only orders (guaranteed maker)
  • Orders that sit in the order book waiting to be filled

📤

Taker (0.05%)

Removes liquidity from order book

You’re a taker when your order executes immediately:

  • Market orders (always taker)
  • Limit orders at or beyond current price
  • Stop-market orders when triggered

Complete Binance Futures Fee Table

Binance offers two main futures types with slightly different fee structures:

💵 USDⓈ-M Futures Fees (USDT/USDC Settled)

VIP Level 30-Day Volume BNB Balance Maker Taker
Regular < $15M < 25 BNB 0.0200% 0.0500%
VIP 1 ≥ $15M ≥ 25 BNB 0.0160% 0.0400%

VIP 9 ≥ $25B ≥ 11,000 BNB 0.0000% 0.0170%

₿ COIN-M Futures Fees (Crypto Settled)

COIN-M fees are the same as USDⓈ-M: 0.02% maker / 0.05% taker for regular users.

⚠️ Important: BNB fee discount is NOT available for COIN-M futures. Only USDⓈ-M contracts get the 10% BNB discount.

VIP Tiers & BNB Discount

There are two main ways to reduce your Binance Futures fees:

🪙 BNB Fee Discount (10% OFF)

Pay trading fees with BNB to get 10% off:

Regular (with BNB): 0.018% maker / 0.045% taker

How to enable: Go to Settings → Toggle “Use BNB to pay for fees”

⭐ VIP Program (Up to 0% Maker)

VIP levels based on 30-day volume + BNB holdings:

  • VIP 1: ≥ $15M volume + 25 BNB
  • VIP 5: ≥ $400M volume + 1,000 BNB
  • VIP 9: ≥ $25B volume + 11,000 BNB

Volume is measured across both Spot + Futures

💰 Maximum Savings: VIP + BNB + Referral

Combine all discounts for the lowest possible fees. With VIP 9 + BNB discount, your effective taker fee can be as low as 0.0153%. Plus, signing up with a referral code (like FJDBALRL) gives you an additional 20% fee discount!

Funding Rate Fees

On perpetual futures, funding fees are exchanged between long and short traders every 8 hours. This keeps the futures price aligned with spot. Binance doesn’t profit from funding – it’s peer-to-peer.

How to Calculate Futures Fees

The formula is straightforward:

📐 Fee Calculation Formula

Trading Fee = Position Size × Entry Price × Fee Rate

Example: Opening a BTC Long Position
Position Size:
0.1 BTC
Entry Price:
$100,000
Position Value:
$10,000
Maker Fee (0.02%):
$10,000 × 0.02% = $2
Taker Fee (0.05%):
$10,000 × 0.05% = $5

Note: You pay fees twice – once to open and once to close the position. Total round-trip cost: $4 (maker) or $10 (taker).

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Binance charge leverage fees?

No! Binance doesn’t charge any additional fees for using leverage. You only pay trading fees (maker/taker) and funding fees on perpetual contracts. The leverage itself is free.

Are fees charged on position value or margin?

Fees are charged on the full position value (notional), not your margin. Example: 10x leverage with $1,000 margin = $10,000 position. Fee is calculated on $10,000.

What’s the settlement fee for quarterly futures?

If you hold a quarterly futures position at expiration, you pay a settlement fee equal to the taker fee for your VIP level. To avoid this, close your position manually before expiry.

Can I avoid funding fees?

Yes! Close your position before funding time (00:00, 08:00, 16:00 UTC). Or trade quarterly futures instead – they have zero funding fees.

Does BNB discount work on COIN-M futures?

No. The 10% BNB fee discount only applies to USDⓈ-M (USDT/USDC-margined) futures. COIN-M futures don’t have this discount.
